The Nerd 3D Millennium Walk Designer Update DESCRIPTION: The Nerd 3D Millennium Walk Designer (N3MWD) changes files related to Poser® walk designer. It also adds blend styles to allow Walk designer to work with DAZ® Millennium Figures. The Update changes the basic functionality of walk designer to permit future additions of other figure types. INSTALLING N3MWD: WARNING: This installation needs to replace several files in the ...\Runtime\Library\Pose\WalkDesigner folder. Back up this folder before installing the update. When Installing in Poser 5 you must rename the default walk cycles BEFORE installing the update. Browse to the Poser 5/Runtime/Pose/WalkDesigner folder. Locate walk.png and walk.p2z. Rename these files to P5 Walk.png and P5 Walk.p2z. The walk designer is provided as a zip file. The zip contains the normal installation paths and will place all the file automatically when extracted to the Poser 4 folder. Close Poser before attempting to install the N3MWD. With your zip utility extract all files and folders to the c:\Program Files\Poser #\ folder. Be sure to use the "Use Folder Names" option. Nerd 3D recommends WinZip. A free trial version is available at http://www.winzip.com If you need to install manually here is where the files need to go. ...\Runtime\libraries\Pose\WalkDesigner\ (Walk Designer Blend Styles) MM 3 Inch.pz2 544 kb MM 3 Inch.rsr 7 kb MM Slipper.pz2 518 kb MM Slipper.rsr 7 kb MM Standard.pz2 546 kb MM Standard.rsr 7 kb Old walk.pz2 427 kb Old walk.rsr 7 kb P4NF 5 Inch.pz2 360 kb P4NF 5 Inch.rsr 7 kb P4NF 6 Inch.pz2 346 kb P4NF 6 Inch.rsr 6 kb P4NF Dream 240.pz2 550 kb P4NF Dream 240.rsr 7 kb P4NF HH Jog.pz2 520 kb P4NF HH Jog.rsr 6 kb P4NF Runway.pz2 550 kb P4NF Runway.rsr 6 kb P4NF Slipper.pz2 552 kb P4NF Slipper.rsr 7 kb P4NF Standard.pz2 553 kb P4NF Standard.rsr 7 kb P4NM Standard.pz2 526 kb P4NM Standard.rsr 7 kb V2 5 Inch.pz2 521 kb V2 5 Inch.rsr 7 kb V2 6 Inch.pz2 552 kb V2 6 Inch.rsr 7 kb V2 Dream 240.pz2 612 kb V2 Dream 240.rsr 6 kb V2 HH Jog.pz2 491 kb V2 HH Jog.rsr 6 kb V2 Runway.pz2 906 kb V2 Runway.rsr 6 kb V2 Slipper.pz2 655 kb V2 Slipper.rsr 7 kb V2 Standard.pz2 517 kb V2 Standard.rsr 7 kb walk.pz2 354 kb walk.rsr 1 kb ...\Runtime\libraries\Pose\Nerd Walk Stuff\ (Pose files) P4NF Jiggle.pz2 9 kb P4NF Jiggle.rsr 20 kb V2 Jiggle.pz2 1 kb V2 Jiggle.rsr 20 kb V2 JNT Foot Limit.pz2 1 kb V2 JNT Foot Limit.rsr 12 kb ...\Walk Preset\ (Walk Designer Presets) MM Determined.PWK 1 kb MM Girly.PWK 1 kb P4NF Groovy Baby.PWK 1 kb P4NF Little Tramp.PWK 1 kb P4NF Too Sexy.PWK 1 kb P4NF Low Heels.PWK 1 kb V2 240 Jog.PWK 1 kb V2 Demure Blend.pwk 1 kb V2 Low Heels.PWK 1 kb V2 Power Heels.PWK 1 kb V2 Sneaky.PWK 1 kb ...\Nerd Stuff Readme\ (Documentation) N3MWDReadme.txt 2 kb License.txt 12 kb Once installed the Walk Poses are available in the Pose > WalkDesigner Library. There are some goodies in the Nerd Walk Stuff Library. The Walk blend presets are in the Poser 4\Walk Preset folder. To Open Walk Designer Click Window > Walk Designer. (It will take some time to open) USING THE N3MWD: Open Poser and load a figure. Open walk designer from the Window menu. Walk designer will take a few seconds to load because it has to load all the new blend styles. In walk designer click the figure type button and choose the same type figure as you loaded in the poseing window. If you click walk now the figure will not do anything. This change was necessary to accommodate different style figures. From the list of blend styles choose an appropriate walk blend. Set it to 100% * V2 blends work for Victoria and Stephanie * P4NF blends work for Posette * P4NM blends work with Dork * MM blends work with Michael You can also mix blends. 50% Standard and 50% 5 Inch will produce a Low Heels walk cycle. The blends are additive, That means 100% 6 Inch and 100% Slipper will produce a wildly exaggerated walk. When mixing blends you want to set the sliders to total about 100%. This actually gives you much better control over the finished walk cycle than the original system. You can produce a very mild stroll by setting the blends to less than 100%, or a wild march by setting the blend styles higher. The Walk Tweaks work as they always have. Some of them may even work better like the "Stride" and "Leg Lift" tweaks. The kit includes several blend presets that will demonstrate some of the possible walk blend combinations. You can open these by clicking the Load button in walk designer. They are located in the ...\Poser 4\Walk Preset folder. Once the walk looks the way you want it click the Apply button. In the Walk Apply dialog set the Start and End Frames as needed. The Millennium Walk Designer is designed to work with the "Walk in Place" option. Feel free to try the "Walk Path" option, but expect strange results. Check the walk in place box and enter the number of strides to take and check if you need transition poses. Click OK to apply the changes to your figure. FAQ: Where is the original walk cycle? It's still there. The blend it named "Walk Old" just set it to 100% and you are back to walking the old way. This blend works best on the original Poser Nude Male figure. I had some PWK presets saved, they look really weird now! Sorry, the changes to walk designer will cause these old presets to freak out. Victoria walks really weird, her legs are to far apart! Most likely you forgot to load the correct figure type before applying the blends in MWD. Be sure to load the correct figure type each time you open Walk Designer. Some times Poser will forget which figure is loaded and behave strangely. Just reload the correct figure type again. I'm trying to use a Path and my figure looks like it's dancing a jig! Sorry, the Walk Path tool in Poser is very limited. It only works with the original "Old Walk" blend. Occasionally you can get fair results with the new Blends. Don't count in it to work. You will get better results and a much smoother animation by using the translate dials on the body of the figure that is walking. To assist in animating a walk translation apply a grid texture to the ground plane and use the grid as a guide to placing the foot falls. Vicky's feet don't bend enough for the 6 Inch high heel walk. There is a Joint Pose in the Pose > Nerd Walk Stuff folder. Select your walker. Then the V2 JNT Foot Limit Pose. It modifies the bending limits on the feet and toes to work better with high heels. The Hip Swing tweak makes my figure wobble side to side! This is a limitation of walk designer. The hip swing tweak replaces the hip and abdomen movement of the selected blends with a predefined hip movement. Any blend that contains hip movement will look weird when this tweak is used. The "Standard" blends use very little hip movement and will work as designed with the Hip Swing tweak. REQUIREMENTS: Poser 4, with the latest patches, The blends were designed on Windows, MAC uses will need to convert them to MAC format.
